Hi there,
I can’t seem to use the `p` option properly to write my annotation in the form 10^p instead of 100000… with _ **linear scale** _.

e.g

```auto
gmt begin test png
gmt basemap -R0/1/0/2.5e7 -JX10c -Bafg
gmt end show
```

gives annotation

- 5000000 = 5 x10(6)
- 10000000 = 10(7)
…

I think 10^ is activated for log axes only. I agree that it could be helpful in other situations too, but usually you can work around it via -B’s +s" 10@+6@+" and use -R0/1/0/25.

```auto
gmt begin test png
gmt basemap -R0/1/0/25 -JX10c -Byafg+s"10@+6@+" -Bxafg
gmt end show
```

Doesn’t work

Turns out it was +u:

`gmt basemap -R0/1/0/25 -JX10c -Byafg+u"\26710@+6@+" -Bxafg -pdf t`
