# How to use GMT.jl in Colab?

hi,this is what I try to use GMT.jl in Colab which seems that I can’t install both GMT and Julia in the same runtime type.

I never used Colab and I think you’ll have better chances to get help if you ask this in the [Julia forum](https://discourse.julialang.org). Search for `Colab` threads there first, maybe the answer is already in one post.

Note, you don’t need to install GMT first to use GMT.jl. That is just advised in a normal environment but if GMT.jl doesn’t find a usable GMT in its first run it will install one via Conda plus a ton of t that we don’t need and eats a couple of GB of disk more the time to install it.
