Movie and PROJ_LENGTH_UNIT

Hi there,

For movies we can use -Ccanvas in pixels (like 1080p and others).
However, for the plot itself, we have to somehow guess the right size so everything fits without too much margins.

Could there be (or is there?) a way to have a good match between plot size and movie’s canvas?

Mmm, something like ${MOVIE_WIDTH} ?

I thought I tried it … maybe not… But the docs is definitely pointing to that. Thanks

Maybe I misunderstand you, but: If you stick to standard video formats (e.g., -CHD) you know you have a paper size (canvas) that is exactly 24 x 13.5 cm. Those values (regardless of -C) are stored in MOVIE_WIDTH/HIGHT. It is your job to consider margins and other spaces. So I see this as just another plot layout exercise but instead of A4 or US Letter you have the above,

Would it make sense to add a new column in the movie -C table where the width and height is specified?

You mean the doc table?

Yes.

Doesn’t it already spell out 16:9 at the fixed 24x13.5 cm and 4:3 at 24x18 cm? What am I not getting here?

You’re absolutely right; dismiss my comment.
