Interval annotation without a label?

Using GMT6: Question about custom axes using interval annotation provided in an external text file.

UPDATE: I did manage to solve this by making my “label” in the custom axis file the non-printing character: \040.

Is there a way to plot interval annotations without any label at all? I have a plot where some intervals are too small to annotate. I need to display these intervals with tick marks, but without a label. If you leave the interval label blank, gmt plots the value. So I tried plotting whitespace using " " but that didn’t seem to work either.

I also tried setting the don’t annotate intervals with an f for frame tick instead of i but then the rest of the intervals get messed up.

Any suggestions would be most welcome!

Thanks, Jed
