Is there an easy way to plot earthquakes by having a metadata in .csv format?

I need to plot my data which is a lot on a map.
This data has a lot of information, many rows and columns … and the text is a mix of text and numbers.

Is there a way to not have to change anything and plot the data contained within the file?

Is the long and lat in the 1st and 2nd column?

no are in 6 and 7

I assume 6 and 7 when 1st column is 1. GMT treats the first column as column #0.
So try to add -i5,6 in your command, to read column 6 and 7 as lon/lat.

plot [WARNING]: Mismatch between actual (0) and expected (2) fields near line 1254 in file

i received this error

I need an example to be able to help you.

¿Could you give a piece of the data from your file .cvs? Probably, you have to pre-process before plotting in GMT, and it would not require a lot of work.

thanks you

I have developed a very small script in python that extracts the columns of my interest and now the various earthquakes have been plotted with their own long and lat.

probably you can help me for this…

dont see the first column…
now plot the magnitude with different colors? for magnitude and depth?

If your first record posted here is correct then it is missing a leading record number 0. You would need to use -i to select the columns you want from, e.g., -i1,2 for lon lat. Start there to make a plot with fixed size and color, then work on a CPT for coloring things - see the tutorial.

thanks soo much.

i see tutorial and example 22 and i obtain my results.
