Sonoma error malicious program

I installed gmt-6.5.0-darwin-arm64.dmg on Sonoma and got the following error: “GMT-6.5.0” cant be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software. This software needs to be updated.

I’ve been looking through forum posts and tried right-click, Open but that still produced the same error.

Any suggestions on how I can get past this?

I was able to open the GMT app on my M1 Mac by using “Option-Open” and then clicking the “open anyway” button. Whether your system will open it will depend on the “System Settings->Privacy and Security” Security setting. I have the Security set to “allow applications from App Store and identified developers” but after I accepted the risk with the “Option-Open” it opens on my Mac.
