Switch italics off/on embedded in text string

HI,

I can’t find this in the docs or examples. I’m plotting species occurrences with the species name on the map. Most of the text is italicised, some letters sometimes are not (eg: cf.)

In the text string to be printed how can I turn italics off for a few letters, then back on again?

Are the embedded text controls available in GMT documented anywhere?

Thanks,

Brent Wood

See text man page for the various escape codes. You want @%font% to switch between your fonts.

Thanks Paul, Gotcha - in GMT italics are a separate font from normal, rather than a setting for the same font… Makes sense now!!

Hi @Brent,
Just out of curiosity, could you share your map when it’s done?
