Lazy to install GMT just to try something out? No problem, just visit https://github.com/GenericMappingTools/try-gmt! It comes pre-installed with the latest stable release of GMT, PyGMT and GMT.jl, so you can get up and running in a few seconds/minutes on a Jupyter Lab environment. Thanks to @seisman for making this, and to Pangeo Binder for setting up the cloud infrastructure.
