GMT 6.6.0 release

The GMT team is pleased to announce the 6.6.0 release via GitHub Releases. It is the first release since Paul Wessel so sadly left us and contains mostly the bug fixes that have accumulated during this > 1.5 year since release 6.5. But it contains also some enhancements, specially the new Spilhaus projection. We also no longer provide a Mac .dmg version. Mac users must use Homebrew, MacPorts or build GMT by their own. If you find any bugs please report issues on GitHub or if you are not sure you can post general questions on our Q & A Forum.

Hi, thanks for the release, though, why the rush (not that I complain, I really needed this new .exe)?

The download page from the official website needs a new entry

Best,

Rush?

Thanks, Download page updated.

I’m referring to some PR pending on github. for example

There are lots of open issues. We cannot be dependent on their resolution to decide when to release. And in fact this time there was a kind o urgent pressing

Oooh, that’s the “Orion’s message” you wrote about.
Thanks

@Joaquim FTP mirrors have not been updated, e.g. hawaii (ftp://ftp.soest.hawaii.edu/gmt)

We have no way to updated that ftp site anymore

Are there any small things someone like me could help with on GMT? Even if it’s not code (my coding tends to be hacky - as I’m sure you can attest to  ), but things like documentation.

Pick your poison ^^

(you can filter the issues with “labels”)

There’s also some discussions of interest in “discussion” :

First release of GMT without an official changelog.

Too bad I’m not good for fixing it or any of the above. Only for answering some of the simplest forum questions or being grumpy when some things aren’t working the way I want it.
