I’m new to the GMT world (so excuse the newbie question) and I’m wondering if the GSHHG geographical database (https://www.soest.hawaii.edu/pwessel/gshhg/) is accessible from PyGMT. The answer might be a hard ‘no’… in which case I could save days trying to make it work. Also, if not, is there a min (or max) version number of GMT that would have access to GSHHG?
Thanks for your time!
Hi @jboright! Yes, PyGMT should be able to access Global Self-consistent Hierarchical High-resolution Geography (GSHHG) data via
fig.coast (see https://www.pygmt.org/v0.4.0/api/generated/pygmt.Figure.coast.html). If you’re looking at accessing the raw GSHHG data though, have a look at https://github.com/GenericMappingTools/gshhg-gmt.
