An old problem – I’m back to trying to use GMT 6.5.0 on my iMac (Intel i7, Ventura 13.6.9). Downloading GMT-6.5.0.app works as expected. However, the GMT app does not start on clicking (all other apps do start). This has been around for several years, and I finally gave up – now restarting. Sometimes I get “Blocked from use because it is not from an identified provider”, sometimes nothing happens. There is no override to run anyway. It does not seem to be a common problem for others.
I tried the Control-Click Open, which brings up the “unidentified developer” issue, click on “open anyway”, and nothing happens. Trying it again does not bring up the “unidentified developer” issue, so the exception must have been accepted previously.
I was able to open the GMT app on my M1 Mac by using “Option-Open” and then clicking the “open anyway” button. Whether your system will open it will depend on the “System Settings->Privacy and Security” Security setting. I have the Security set to “allow applications from App Store and identified developers” but after I accepted the risk with the “Option-Open” it opens on my Mac.
Did that before, and using your suggestion (including the “Option” button). All is accepted, my system accepted the override, Privacy and Security is right, GMT still does not open. I am using the gmt-6.5.0-darwin-x86_64 version on my 2017 i7 Intel iMac. Must be something blocking on my end?
I am not sure exactly what the GMT app is doing. I assume you downloaded the gmt-6.5.0-darwin-x86_64.dmg on your Intel Mac. I don’t have an Intel Mac to test on now.
